The Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe went on sale back in 2008 and, after four years on the market, the company is now preparing its first facelift version for it. In fact, it seems the company is starting to work their way through the lineup, with news of a facelift version for the Phantom limousine released just a few days ago.

Just as with the Phantom sedan, don’t expect to see any major changes to the Coupe model because Rolls Royce is keeping them at a minimum to maintain the essence of the Phantom. The “major” changes will include new headlights, as well as the same minor changes to the interior and infotainment system as in the sedan version. Minor changes will also be made under the hood, but only to the tune of a few more horsepower and a little less CO2. The power source will still be the usual 6.75 liter V12 engine, but with some 10-20 extra HP.

2014 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante

What It Is: A lightly covered-up prototype of the inevitable convertible version of the Aston Martin Vanquish, the brand’s flagship coupe. Following Aston’s nomenclature, the roofless Vanquish will be known as the Vanquish Volante. Just as the hardtop model replaced the DBS last year, this topless Vanquish will take over for the DBS Volante.

Why It Matters: Unless you’re bathing in pools of money like Scrooge McDuck, the Vanquish Volante probably isn’t on your shopping list. However, from Aston Martin’s perspective, it’s important to have a convertible iteration of the Vanquish for high-end sun-worshipping clientele. As an added bonus, the lack of a roof makes it easier to enjoy the aural V-12 bliss sure to emanate from the Volante’s tailpipes. (That’s reason enough to build the thing, if you ask us.

Our spy shots reveal, the Vanquish Volante will eschew a folding hardtop in favor of a conventional fabric roof. This should keep weight increases to a minimum, which is important since we’re likely to see some increases due to additional reinforcements required to make up for the missing roof. The images show a unique rear deck lid, which is longer than the one on the coupe, as well as Aston Martin’s new rear spoiler design for the Vanquish. Otherwise, the Vanquish coupe and new Vanquish Volante will be identical. Under the mostly carbon fiber body is Aston Martin’s latest platform design, based around its VH principle of designing cars with continuous updates.

Power comes from a 6.0-liter V-12, rated at 565 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque. This sends drive strictly to the rear wheels, via a six-speed Touchtronic 2 automatic transmission. The wheels measure in at 20 inches in diameter and are shod with Pirelli P Zero tires measuring 255/35 up front and 305/30 in the rear. The brakes are carbon ceramic units. Due to its extra weight, expect performance of the Vanquish Volante to be just a tad off the pace of the coupe, which goes from 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of 183 mph. Inside, only the finest woods, leather and metal trim will be utilized, and customers will have the choice of either two or 2+2 seating configurations.

Finally, look for pricing to creep up only slightly on the $290k starting price of the DBS Volante, which the new Vanquish Volante replaces. While you await the arrival of the 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante, hit this link to read our first drive of the coupe.

2012 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Super Sport

2012 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Super Sport is settling a very difficult buying dilemma for the super rich. Until now, Bugatti shoppers could choose the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport roadster for the ultimate in top-down style, or the $2.7 million Super Sport coupe for all the bragging rights that come with owning the world’s fastest production car. But anyone who wanted a combination of the two models was simply out of luck.

Now, though, everyone at the polo club can finally breathe a sigh of relief—Bugatti apparently has fused the Grand Sport chassis and body with the 1200-bhp quad turbo W-16 engine that propelled the Super Sport to a record-setting 268-mph high-speed run.

In Roadandtrack, the white test car caught by our spy photographers has only minimal camouflage on its front air intakes. Unlike the Super Sport coupe, this new roadster version keeps the chromed air intakes of the standard Veyron. For obvious reasons, the sleeker NACA ducts found on the roof of the Super Sport make no sense on a car with a removable top. That means the car will likely have a top speed that’s not quite as fast as the Super Sport Coupe’s electronically limited 258-mph max.

But fear not, performance isn’t exactly going to be an issue here. The Super Sport coupe accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds, according to Bugatti, and can pull up to 1.4g on a skidpad. During our test drive, we praised this all-wheel-drive supercar for also being remarkably “smooth, quiet and comfortable” during normal driving conditions.
Look for the Grand Sport Super Sport to go on sale later this year, or early in 2012. This could be one of the final hurrahs for the Veyron before it’s replaced, possibly by a super sedan similar in size and design to the C16 Galibier Concept seen two years ago.
